Weekly Artist

Lee Widener is 55 years old. He grew up in stoic Nebraska and now lives in the weirdness of Oregon. He began creating as far back as he can remember. For thirty years he was heavily involved in the world of theatre, at one time running his own troupe, X. Perry Mental Theatre. For the past ten years I have run the internet radio station NeverEndingWonder Radio.

I have never been able to limit myself to one kind of artistic output. I have drawn a comic strip called Weirdsville, created collage art, dabbled in electronic music, written poetry, short stories and dramatic scripts. I'm now focusing on fiction and poetry. Most of my written work is on the strange end. I'm currently working on a series of anti-fables that don't seem to fit into any definable category.

Name: Gil C. Schmidt

Gil also writes under "Gil The Jenius," primarily concerning topics related to Puerto Rico, where Gil was born. Raised as an Air Force brat--through no fault of the U.S. Armed Forces--Gil lived in Nebraska, Texas, Arkansas and Mississippi before moving to Puerto Rico. He returned to Mississippi for his college days and started writing more often. Back in Puerto Rico since 1988, Gil has worked as a freelance writer, business consultant, teacher, conference speaker, project manager and youth basketball coach. A huge fan of board games and military history, Gil looks to combine interests and experience in transmedia projects to join his growing portfolio of fiction and non-fiction projects. Gil is recently married, to Mrs. Jenius.
