James Dye

My name is James Dye.

I'm currently an undergraduate student working on a Bachelor's in English and I work as a composition tutor. My poems and short stories have appeared in a number of journals and anthologies such as Aphelion, a webzine of science-fiction and fantasy, The Clockwise Cat, a progressive literary webzine, O Sweet Flowery Roses, Scifaikuest, The Ampersand Review, the greatest literary project of all time, DOGZPLOT, a flash-fiction site, Poor Mojo's Almanac(k), an online literary journal, The Cynic Online Magazine, Calliope Nerve, a web log, Shoots and Vines, Outshine, a twitterzine, Pandora's Imagination, Strange, Weird, and Wonderful Magazine, mad swirl, Moon Drenched Fables, cc&d magazine, Word Catalyst Magazine (rip), Danse Macabre, The Stray Branch, Sorcerous Signals, Cats With Thumbs, a literary blogzine, (A Brilliant) Record Magazine, Poets for Living Waters, Sorean Gothic Magazine, Midwest Literary Magazine, Girls With Insurance, Raven Images, Kerouac's Dog Magazine, Hazard Cat, Haggard & Halloo, and the Camel Saloon. I'm currently working on putting out chapbooks of poetry with various small presses. In 2009 I won the Django award, and in 2010 and 2011 I won first place awards for the NICC writing contest.

When I'm not working I enjoy reading, watching movies, television, and surfing the internet. I play the bass for an instrument, but poetry is my favorite pastime. I'm deeply interested in the history of the world, the heroism of individuals, and the sovereignty of nations. I am anti-violence thus anti-war and love peace. I have libertarian leanings though I am against self classifications as their often misleading. I'm studying philosophy, psychology, sociology, and political science along with the English language. I am the editor for tristatesnightout.com

I write literature for people that like to think critically. I use a broad range of styles from heroic epics to haikus. I blend magic realism, and surrealism often with dark satire with science fiction and fantasy. My primary goal is to create literature that will stand the test of time, so the subject matter involves things I think will still be relevant in the future. I also enjoy employing crazy wordplay, and I strive to offer a realistic point of view even my poems and stories are in science fiction or fantasy settings. They're still full of experience that relate to the real world with allegory and allusions.

Ellie Lewis

Name: Ellie Lewis

AKA: Pixie Dust

I’m 18 years old, I live in England. It does rain quite a lot so sunshine makes me happy. I like to think I’m endearingly quirky rather than outright odd. My laugh changes depending on how funny I find something. I want to study Journalism at university because I want to write for a living.

I’ve been interested in reading and writing since I was little, the first story I wrote was about a wizard and a mouse. I also had one about Harry Potter’s little sister (nice and original I know) and I like to think my ideas are still developing and improving. After going on a creative writing trip in June, it has sparked my interest in poetry, which I experiment with on my blog. Pretty much I like to write and I always try to improve and enjoy different styles.
