Linda M. Crate

Name: Linda M. Crate

Aka: Linda Crate, Linda Marie Crate

Linda Crate is a Pennsylvanian native. She was born in Pittsburgh, but she was raised in the rural town of Conneautville. She has been writing since she was thirteen - it's just something that she's always loved to do. She writes poetry, short stories, and novels.

I'm a writer, I enjoy the craft of being a wordsmith. I always remember the phrase that "poets are truth tellers". When I write, I try to convey some form of realism even if I'm writing a sci-fi story or one that is set in a mythical land. I try to make the characters real and personable so the reader can be invested in the characters and in the story that's being told.

Kevin C. Ong

Name: Kevin C. Ong

Aka: K.C. Ong

Kevin C. Ong (who writes under the pen name “K.C. Ong”) lives in lovely Lavender Bay with postcard views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

Kevin’s imagination is fuelled from living in such beautiful surroundings, travelling widely (he’s visited 17 countries and over 55 cities so far), going out and experiencing life (clubs, movies,  outdoor festivals, art galleries, museums, theatre, musicals, stand-up comedy, karaoke, salsa & ceroc dancing) - inspiring him to create new worlds with “real” characters.

His is as a Qualified Solicitor and Chartered Accountant with degrees  from the University of Technology, Sydney (Law); Sydney University (Post graduate Law – Tax); Macquarie University (Commerce). So besides
writing Tax advice, he has finally found a good use for his education (gained from his misspent youth), by starting to write short stories in September 2011.

His passion is writing stories with mind-blowing twists because he is able to bring into existence new worlds and introduce new concepts, allowing him to indulge in his “unique” observations of the world. As Kevin has multiple personalities, he writes in a variety of genres in Speculative fiction including Sci-fi, Sci-fi romance and Sci-fi horror.

His Sci-fi romance “Love in Another Time” which appears on dailylove.net on 11 December 2011
(http://www.dailylove.net/2011/12/121111.html) answers the question of: what would meeting someone and falling in love be like in the future? The story came about through Kevin’s combined interests in Sci-fi stories and online dating.

For something completely different, check out his Psychological horror story “100 Rooms” (about a man who wakes up in a dark room not knowing who he is or how he got there) in the Spring Issue #59 of blackpetals.net
(blackpetalsks.tripod.com/blackpetalsissue59/id9.html) and "His Beloved"(a Sci-fi horror story about a man who hopes to reunite with his wife through the miracle of time travel) on short-story.me (short-story.me/featured-stories/391-his-beloved.html)

“Love in Another Time” will appear with its companion piece “Until the End of Time” in a collection of short stories currently being compiled by Kevin to be released in 2012.

Tracy E. Hieatt

Name: Tracy E. Hieatt

Aka: T. E. Hieatt, Treacye Hieatt

T. E. Hieatt is a graduate of the study of God, Gold, and Glory, aka, history. She once spent a winter outside the kitchen she loves so much, for fear of the furnace blowing up and asteroids crashing through the ceiling. Now she loves conquering false limitations by kicking at the walls between her writing, music, art, and entrepreneurship.

At this point, I'm mainly a writer who's published poetry, prose, and articles. I also indulge in photography, digital art, and web design. I'd like to return soon to painting and music, and will explore mixed media also. Most of my art is not posted anywhere right now while I build the Degenerate Matter Studios web site. Everything I use to produce at the moment is old and cheap by technology's chronology, but it doesn't matter to me. It's the output not the means that are important. Eventually I'll upgrade when I'm able. I'm a self-trained, non-technique artist. I'm not against technique; I just don't use any. Every piece created flows from pure instinct, and if I need a certain look or feel and don't know how to get it, I learn from others then adapt.

I'm taking a year off from college to pursue entrepreneurship, expand my creative pursuits, and volunteer. I have a couple wonderful people in my life who've been a rock and support for me to launch from my platform. I've learned to appreciate this and gained confidence in my choices and who I am through them. Thanks to Weekly Artist for the opportunity to share!

Susan E. Holle

Name: Susan E. Holle

Susan is a woman who has Cerebral Palsy. but doesn’t let her disability stand in the way of all of the things she wants to achieve. Susan graduated high school with honors and then went to Blinn Junior College and then went to Texas A&M University. She graduated in 2006 and now she is a video editor and writer. Also, from time to time she gives speeches at churches and schools about how she fought to get a good education and be treated like everyone else.

Susan likes to write short stories and flash fictions. She types with a mouth stick, because she can't control her arms and hands, but her computer has a word predictor and that helps her to write faster. Susan gets her ideas for her stories using her imagination and life experiences. Sometimes watching TV and listening to music will give her ideas too.

K.W. Taylor

Name: K.W. Taylor

AKA: Always published under the above (slight pen name; full name is Kathleen W. Taylor Kollman, but I began publishing before legally taking married surname; I never use full name in conjunction with my publication credits)

K.W. Taylor has been publishing fiction and non-fiction for ten years. Her work has been featured in many print and web publications, most recently Quarterlife Quarterly, Dark Gothic Resurrected Magazine, Iron Bound, Theory Train, and Aoife’s Kiss Magazine. Her first novella, “We Shadows Have Offended,” was released by Etopia Press in October, and she has a short story appearing in the upcoming Wicked East Press anthology Once Bitten, Never Die. She is the creator of the Dayton Flash Fiction Slam, which she hopes to begin hosting in early 2012.  Taylor also teaches college English and writes about herself in the third person.

I write fiction of all lengths and genres, but primarily in the speculative fiction realms (science fiction, fantasy, and horror). I write every day and find that’s the secret to how many pieces I’ve been able to release over a relatively short amount of time. Thematically, I try to show strong female characters in my work. My short fiction is usually much darker than the longer pieces I write. I have four novels in progress and all of them have a comedic slant to them, whereas most of my short fiction is fairly bleak.
